Disney World. Day 2.

We woke up rested and ready to take on the day.  Epcot was on our schedule for the day so off we went.  Test Track was our first stop after grabbing fast passes to Soarin, and as the ride ended with the 60 mph spin around the track, Bubs squealed "this is WICKED AWESOME!".
We went on Mission Space.  It was "Orange" for us.  After repeated warnings that should we feel claustrophobic or have motion sickness, please notify the nearest cast member, and once more for good measure as the seats closed in on us, and having the barf bags located directly in front of us pointed out as our seat belts were checked,  I started to think if I wasn't freaked out before, I was certainly then.

The international sodas were a big hit - except for Italy's Beverly.  We were not fans of Beverly.

We really loved the international showcase.  Norway, Germany and the UK were particular favorites.

The kids worked on an Agent Perry assignment in Norway.
Oh France.  You and your pastries.  You naughty temptress, you.

In Germany we were amazed by the miniature trains and village - Fussen - a village E and I visited years ago.

The flowers were really beautiful for the festival.

We brought some clever printable passports for the kids and I was amazed by how enthusiastic the kids were for pin trading and stamps/signatures in their passports.   We returned to the condo sleepy and happy.

Disney World. Day 1.

Early morning view from our condo on our first morning

We're still in a bit of post-vacation blues around here.  The kids wearing their Mickey shirts to school and the occasional and random sigh, "I wish I were eating a Dole Whip."   This trip was pretty epic for us, with months of reading and planning, and Bubs agonizing over the possibility that dreams really do come true in Disney World.  We're already scheming about how soon we can go back.

We spent our first day at Hollywood Studios.  Bubs really loved Sunset Blvd and the 'olden days' cars.

We hoofed it to Toy Story Mania and good thing we did because the wait times on the ride quickly got a bit ridiculous and we aren't really the waiting sort.  We came out to find the Green Army Guys.  I love their flat shoe bottoms.
We loved the Indiana Jones stunt show and really, really loved the extreme motor stunt show.  McQueen was spotted racing around and we are big, BIG fans of Lightning McQueen around here.

We thought we'd try the Rockin Roller Coaster, because why not?  And when they say 0 - 60 in like 2 seconds, they're apparently not kidding.  Whoa.  Wonderboy concluded it to be the best ride of all time and we rode it 5, 6, 8 times?  Can't recall.  It was pretty awesome.

The boys braved the Tower of Terror, but I gave myself a 'pass' on that one.  I was about 112% certain that the combination of random plummets and opening doors would induce a panic attack.  My girl decided to stick with me, so we busied ourselves with some pin trading while we waited.   When the boys came out, Bubs very sternly informed me that "It was NOT. FUN. AT. ALL."  E let him stop for a pressed quarter for his act of bravery.
We practically ran into Captain Hook, Mr. Smee and one of the chipmunks just sort of hanging around with no one to talk to.   The kids were all about getting autographs, but talking to the characters?  Not so much.

Sophia spotted the evil queen and she was a brilliant evil queen.  Just perfect.  She looked Miss S over and declared her to look too much like Snow White and we all know how she feels about Snow White.
Jedi Training Academy was a huge hit, especially for Bubs because if you can take a swing at Darth Vader, what's not to love?  And Darth Vader in person is quite intimidating and not to be messed with.  And now we know we only use the force for good and so we'll try to remember that when whacking our big brother with the light saber.

We were completely tuckered out by 7:30 so we called it a day and went back to the condo to collapse in our beds.

Another quote of the day

Heard while driving around and kiddos chattering about in the back seat:

"I like to do things the EVIL GENIUS way.  Well, except that I'm not evil, nor a genius."

Quote of the Day

"Ugh! I just don't get why no one ever calls me Mario!"

It's done.

I'm holed up on day of 5 of the flu from hell and since I'm probably going to die, I want to make it known that The Quilt is done.  The quilt that was never going to be done, is done.

I fell for this quilt pattern hard and pieced it about 7-ish years ago.  So long ago I can't really remember, but I know it was before Bubs hit the scene.  Originally pieced with a bold floral on a black background for the border which is now gingham check, I put up my quilt frame and quilted about 1/3 of the way when I discovered that the black floral border was fading to a sickly pink from sunlight.  It was awful.  I think I wept bitterly, but I'm not really sure.  It sat on the frames untouched because I wasn't sure how to remedy the problem, or rather, I knew very well the remedy but couldn't bring myself to undo all that work.  And then we moved so I ripped it off the frames and wadded it up on a shelf.
This year I decided it was going to be fixed or stuffed in the trash.  I unpicked all that hand-quilting (painful!) and removed and replaced the border.  And started OVER.

If I wasn't dying, I would be doing a triumphant jiggety jig.
